2011 CECAFA: Group A down to 3 teams?

Guests Namibia pulled out of the 2011 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup . The Namibians cited the late invitation as the main reason why they opted not to participate in the tournament.

“CECAFA is to blame for late invitation, we would have used the Challenge Cup to assess our players ahead of our next international assignments,” the Namibia football authorities were quoted as saying on Monday.

The Brave Warriors (Namibia) were in Group A along with Tanzania, Rwanda and Djibouti. I understand they have been replaced by Zimbabwe.

Group A: Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia Namibia, Zimbabwe, Djibouti
Group B: Uganda, Burundi, Zanzibar, Somalia
Group C: Sudan, Kenya, Malawi, Eritrea Ethiopia

25 November: Somalia 1:4 Burundi (2pm); Zanzibar 1:2 Uganda (4pm)
26 November: Tanzania vs Rwanda
27 November: Namibia Zimbabwe vs Djibouti; Zanzibar vs Burundi
28 November: Sudan vs Ethiopia; Kenya vs Malawi; Somalia vs Uganda
29 November: Rwanda vs Namibia Zimbabwe; Djibouti vs Tanzania
30 November: Ethiopia vs Kenya; Malawi vs Sudan
01 December: Somalia vs Zanzibar; Burundi vs Uganda
02 December: Rwanda vs Djibouti; Ethiopia vs Malawi
03 December: Kenya vs Sudan; Tanzania vs Namibia Zimbabwe

Thanks Mwarimu. Collings, Malawi won 2-0. Anyway, you predicted a Malawi win.

Namibia didn’t want to jeopardize their Nations Cup appeal. Remember countries that are to participate in the Nations cup are not allowed to play in the CECAFA tournament unless they are members like Sudan.

Good win for Malawi.

I see. The Ugandan…, is it just by coincidence that you only comment when the CECAFA Tournament is going on? Was this your last comment during the 2010 CECAFA Senior Challenge? Cranes still grinding out results? Losing not in their DNA?
