It will not be a good weekend for the ugandans

@Abubakari Ugandans are already in a festive mood. I would worry about Mrisho and Bocco scoring goals against Zanzibar to win the top scorer award.

Did you know….

18-Number of times Uganda has been in the Cecafa final.

5- Finals Uganda has lost in the Cecafa Final.

12-Number of titles Uganda has won.

1995- The last time Uganda lost the final :-D

0- the number of goals Uganda has let in for the 2012 CECAFA tournament.

This will be the first time Uganda defends its title on home soil.

@Sscouser Ashford Mamelodi’s analysis of the state of Malawi’s football was brutal.

The top goal scorer will not get anything

May the best team win but most of us want to watch penalty shootouts

@Henry Kwanji be careful what you wish for …. I suspect the Harambee stars are going to park a bus and hope for penalties.

That would be a mistake because the Cranes are pretty good at penalties. Incidentally the best penalties you will ever see were in a CECAFA final between Uganda vs Kenya with Muhamood Abbas in goal for Kenya. Abbas broke Ugandans hearts. :-(

@AbubakariThe top scorer wins a small trophy and bragging rights.

We beat Burundi on penalties. Today we have beaten Tanzania on penalties again. Call us masters. We are now the third ranked team in cecafa.

Amos Kamau are you still there?  That was some game! Damn! These Cranes can be cruel. They teased the Kenyans only to punish them at death. This is really wicked.

Anyway, it is party time! We are the Champions! :-D

Apparently, the Kenyans complained about beautiful girls in their hotel last night.

John Kibaki I think congratulations are in order?

John Kibaki, I don’t think the Uganda Cranes are Kenya’s rivals, certainly not after losing to them twice in the same tournament.

The Harambee stars are simply Uganda’s wifey.

Did Uganda Cranes win the World Cup? The way they celebrated …

“@Sscouser Ashford Mamelodi’s analysis of the state of Malawi’s football was brutal.” – The Ugandan…

Did you read this?:

“Without planning there is nothing you can achieve. Failing to plan is like planning to fail. You succeed in failing if you don’t plan. We may have a very nice document, sometimes we refer to it sometimes we don’t. IT’S NOT ONLY IN MALAWI, in Africa we like short cuts,” Mamelodi said.

By the way this Memelodi is a Motswana. How is the Botswana Football System?

If the Malawi Football System is pathetic then the Uganda Football System is ….

Uganda should have been down to 10 men. That was a deliberate handball

By sscouser | December 11th, 2012 at 5:13 pm
Top

Dipsy1, he attempted to score a goal by deliberately handling the ball. A caution is required.

A player is sent off, however, if he prevents a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball. This punishment arises not from the act of the player deliberately handling the ball but from the unacceptable and unfair intervention that prevented a goal being scored.

….Joel Gatimu

Yes honey  The Cranes pumped in 3 goals in total ….

@Dipsy1 There is no evidence to show that Kenya would have beaten a 10 man Uganda Cranes team. Who knows the Cranes could have closed shop and thrown away the keys until the end.
Rafiki, be a good sport, relax and enjoy a cold Tusker. Next year is round the corner. :-D

@Sscouser Botswana actually has a very good football system. The Zebras qualified for Afcon (spectacularly) recently.

If the Malawi Football System is pathetic then the Uganda Football System is …. on the road to greatness?

Seriously, the best person to answer that would be Mr. Mamelodi as he knows both FAs intimately.

BTW, who said Malawi’s football is pathetic? From what I can tell it’s you.

Frenchman Henri Michel quits as coach of Kenya
BBC (17 December 2012)

Frenchman Henri Michel has quit as the coach of the Kenyan national team after less than four months in charge of the team.

In a statement released via the French Embassy to Kenya he explained: “I could not find an amicable agreement within the deadlines regarding my compliance with several provisions of the contract.”

He added that he had already sent a letter to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) informing it of his resignation.

The statement did not elaborate on exactly which parts of his contracts Michel was unhappy with.

There had been speculation about his future after he decided not take charge of Kenya’s tie again Burundi on Sunday in the African Nations Championship.

Instead James Nandwa coached the side that lost 1-0 in the first leg of the opening round of qualifying for the tournament for locally-based players.

Michel began coaching the Harambee Stars in August and oversaw just two friendly games against Tanzania and South Africa, which both ended in defeats.

FKF had been forced to defend its decision to appoint Michel in October with fans and media in Kenya criticising his previous record in Africa.

Michel further courted controversy by shunning the east and central African regional championship, the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, branding it a ‘useless‘ tournament.

Nandwa took charge of the team at the Cecafa Senior Challenge, where Kenya finished as runners-up to hosts Uganda.

Henri Michel is useless. He didn’t win any game and he knew he was going to lose big to Burundi.

How could he ignore a tournament full of CHAN qualifying opponents then claim to focus on CHAN. On top of that, half the CHAN team was at CECAFA. Pure insanity!

Kenya lost only two matches (both friendly matches) under Henri Michel.

How could he ignore a tournament full of CHAN qualifying opponents then claim to focus on CHAN…”

Kenya didn’t have time to prepare for CECAFA. I think that’s why he didn’t want to take Kenya to CECAFA and then get blamed if Kenya didn’t win. By the way, the Harambee Stars (Kenya) were in training camp for only 4 days but still managed to reach the finals and only lost 2-1 to defending champs Uganda who had been in camp for close to 2 months

“Michel further courted controversy by shunning the east and central African regional championship, the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, branding it a ‘useless‘ tournament.”

The Cranes (Uganda) won all their matches at CECAFA but that will only help them move about 2 places on FIFA Ranking. Maybe that’s what he meant

December ranking publication will be released tomorrow. Let’s wait and see if Uganda will displace Spain.

Sscouser You cannot excuse Henri Michel. The Kenyan team that lost to Burundi in CHAN had 5 CECAFA players. Henri trained with fringe players while CECAFA was going on. He took advantage of FKF’s tantrums for losing the CECAFA hosting rights to slam the tournament. As it turned out, the Kenyans couldn’t afford him especially with the local coach doing a better job at CECAFA.

No sane coach will slam CECAFA while rebuilding a team.

Zanzibar not rebuilding?

Tanzania: Zanzibar Heroes Coach Resigns After Loss to Kenya
8 December 2012

Kampala — ZANZIBAR Heroes coach Salum Nassour has resigned after his team failed to reach the finals of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup reaching its climax in Kampala, Uganda on Saturday.

Zanzibar lost 4-2 on post-match penalties and will now face off for the third and fourth play off against Mainland’s Kilimanjaro Stars at the Nelson Mandela (Namboole) Stadium today. “I am a man of my words and I said if I will not win this tournament, then I am resigning as the coach.

I will not wait till we get to Zanzibar. I am resigning just now in the team bus. My assistant coach will take care of the team in the play offs. I never came here for the play offs, I came for the finals,” Nassour was quoted by michezoafrika.com after the match. “We played very well and I do not think Kenya played anything.

It was just unfortunate that we could not win. We scored, we played well in midfield, but again, luck has a big part to play in football. We are all disappointed but we can’t do anything,” he added
