BAD WEEK FOR MALAWI NATIONAL TEAMS

March 30th, 2009 | By: sscouser | 4 Comments »

While The Elephants were busy mauling “the seniors”, The Scorpions were busy stinging “the juniors”.

Baby Scorpions (Gambia Under-17 Team) thrashed the Junior Flames (Malawi Under-17 Team) 4-0 in the semi-finals of the 8th CAF Championship held in Algeria.

The Junior Flames made it to semi-finals by default. They replaced Young Menas of Niger. Young Menas of Niger were disqualified for age cheating.

The FIFA Under 17 World Cup will be hosted by Nigeria in October of this year. Africa will be represented by CAF finalists (Algeria and Gambia) and semi-finalists (Malawi and Burkina Faso).

Don’t rule out The Flames yet. The Flames will be in South Africa by hook or crook.

Those discounting The Flames because they lost 5-0 don’t know much about football. Any team can lose by a wider margin when caught off-guard, recent examples: Liverpool 5 Villa 0; Liverpool 4 Man U 1; Liverpool 4 Real Madrid 0.

The Flames took a day off.

I know Malawi will make it to Angola but I have doubts about making it to South Africa.

The Junior Flames lost to Gambia because they were given a short notice. The game was Sunday and they were only told Saturday night that they would replace the Young Menas of Niger.
