According to the CEO of FAM, “Rwanda wants to come here using their own transport, what they have asked from us is that we should meet their local travel costs.” That sounds good indeed because Malawi will not pay a lot of money to host the match. See, if you want to have an automatic friendly against the Flames just foot 100% of the friendly bill. Please note that the Flames friendly match against Rwanda has not been confirmed as the final decision is yet to be made. So, call them now before they make a final decision.
Fam’s technical committee proposed Angola, Togo and Sudan for the match while Rwanda, Libya and Mozambique expressed interest to play the Flames. Rwanda want to play Malawi because Rwanda, Egypt, Algeria and Zambia are in the same group. Zambia and Malawi pretty much play the same style.
In other news, Former Ajax Cape Town’s Malawian striker Russell Mwafulirwa’s Swedish club, IFK Norrkoping, has been relegated. Norrkoping survival hopes were dealt a heavy blow on Saturday when they got a 6-0 hammering by newly crowned champions, Kalmar FF. Mwafulirwa was named Man of the Match despite the loss.
“When one door is closed, don’t you know, another is open.” – Bob Marley.
Being as good as he is Am sure he will find another big team to play for. Many doors will open for Malawian Players if they make it to the 2010 World Cup.
“When we are met with cynicism, doubt, and those that say we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people”, YES WE CAN!!
